From Court to Classroom: SACP and YouCubed Innovate with Data

SACP Teams Up with YouCubed and Stanford Women’s Basketball

The Sports Analytics Club Program (SACP) is proud to collaborate with YouCubed and Stanford Women’s Basketball to bring innovative data education to students through the Basketball Data Analytics Unit. This program introduces students in fourth grade and above to the world of sports analytics, merging their passion for basketball with essential data science skills.

Students engage in activities like data recording, game simulations, and data visualization using tools such as CODAP (Common Online Data Analysis Platform). With guidance from real-world examples inspired by Stanford Women’s Basketball, the curriculum helps students analyze basketball statistics to build and justify their own “dream team.” This hands-on experience not only enhances their understanding of analytics but also fosters critical thinking and decision-making.

We are dedicated to supporting sports analytics clubs in high schools and middle schools, offering students opportunities to explore data science in engaging and relatable contexts. By partnering with YouCubed and Stanford Women’s Basketball, SACP is empowering young learners—particularly those from underrepresented communities—to connect their academic interests with practical applications in sports, inspiring the next generation of data scientists and sports enthusiasts.
