The Los Angeles Dodgers currently have a job opportunity for Performance Science Intern. The Performance Science team uses science and engineering principles to better understand on-field performance through biomechanical data analysis and visualization.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Operating, processing, and analyzing biomechanics and other tracking data from a laboratory and/or on-field setting
  • Supporting research projects focused on player performance and biomechanics
  • Working with data visualization tools; interpreting reports and communicating results to front office, coaching staff, player development, scouting, and medical/performance staff as well as players
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Preference for an academic background in a STEM field (mechanical engineering, biomechanics, physics, mathematics, etc.)
  • Some computer programming experience (Python, command line tools)
  • Familiarity with SQL / database querying
  • Strong communication (written & verbal) skills
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment
  • (Arizona-based) Experience working in a biomechanics lab environment preferred and Spanish speaking a plus
  • Must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree OR are currently enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution
  • Must be available to live and work in Los Angeles or your assigned office location throughout the duration of your 3-month program during the summer months
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
  • Passionate about working for a professional sports team
