Onyinye Okonkwo ‘23 is a rare “student of the game.” He is a key veteran player on Fordham Prep’s varsity basketball team that won back-to-back New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) City Championships in 2020 and 2022.
Okonkwo is also the president of Fordham Prep’s Sports Analytics Club, a co-curricular program working in conjunction with St. John’s University to study the analytical side of basketball. Moderated by iSTEAM Coordinator Dr. Raymond Gonzalez, the club has produced a ground-breaking portfolio of statistical evidence to elect underrepresented former basketball players into the Hall of Fame. As an exceptional student with a GPA among the top five percent in the senior class, Onyinye’s dynamic talents recently landed him an acceptance letter to Harvard College.
