Greenberg Traurig, LLP Marks Three Years of Supporting SACP at South Lakes High School

Students in Fairfax County, Virginia explore Data Science and AI through the Sports Analytics Club Program.

For the past three years, Greenberg Traurig, LLP has sponsored the Sports Analytics Club Program (SACP) at South Lakes High School in Reston, Virginia, supporting opportunities for students to explore Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and analytics through the lens of sports.
Through the SACP club, students gain hands-on experience applying statistics, analytics, and AI concepts to real-world challenges while strengthening critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills. The experience also introduces students to the academic and professional opportunities available across data-driven fields.

At South Lakes, the club is led by STEM Teacher Advisor Evan Miller, a Data Science teacher who currently teaches four Data Science course sections with approximately 100 students enrolled. South Lakes serves a total student population of 2,473.

The program also connects students with expertise beyond their school. Professor Jessica Hauschild-Eastman, Assistant Professor at the United States Air Force Academy, serves as the University Partner Advisor for the South Lakes SACP club. Students also have access to professionals working across sports analytics and business intelligence, including individuals from the Seattle Seahawks, Washington Nationals, ESPN, Minnesota Timberwolves, Aramark Sports & Entertainment, and New York Yankees. These collaborations create meaningful connections between secondary education, higher education, and industry, giving students opportunities to engage with authentic data, research, and career exploration.

Greenberg Traurig’s continued sponsorship has helped SACP provide these experiences to South Lakes students and sustain a program that brings together their interests in sports, data, and emerging technology.

“We are grateful to Greenberg Traurig for investing in educational opportunities that prepare students for the future,” said Robert Clayton, Founder and Executive Director of the Sports Analytics Club Program. “Sponsorships like this make it possible to bring real-world learning into the classroom that helps students build the analytical and technical skills that will serve them throughout college and future careers.”
