Brian Mitchell’s Hall of Fame Case Backed by Groundbreaking Analytics

The St. Albans School Sports Analytics Club in Washington, D.C., has advanced a compelling and meticulously researched Hall of Fame Performance Portfolio advocating for the induction of Brian Mitchell into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Developed in partnership with George Washington University and supported by data scientists from the Baltimore Ravens, the student-led project leverages traditional statistics and advanced analytics to demonstrate Mitchell’s unmatched legacy as a kick returner.

The Sports Analytics Club Program (SACP) is honored to announce its approval as a Community Partner within the Maryland STEM Education to Employment Ecosystem (MSE3), the statewide network dedicated to building inclusive, career-connected pathways in STEM for Maryland’s youth. MSE³ brings together schools, after-school and community programs, businesses, higher-education institutions, and workforce stakeholders to ensure students have access to the skills, experiences, and mentoring needed to succeed in STEM-rich fields.

On Friday, August 21, 2025, the Fellowship Open luncheon became the stage for a powerful moment of recognition and celebration. Robert Clayton, cofounder of the Sports Analytics Club Program (SACP), presented a Dick Allen commemorative bat to John Daniels, Chairman of the Board, The Fellowship Open and Michelle Morris-Carter, Principal, Golda Meir School. As baseball legend Dick Allen prepares for his official induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown on July 27, 2025, the students of Golda Meir High School’s Sports Analytics Club have produced an exceptional tribute worthy of the moment.

With guidance from the Sports Analytics Club Program (SACP), the students created a comprehensive Performance Portfolio that uses modern baseball analytics to highlight Allen’s extraordinary career. Through months of research, statistical modeling, and historical analysis, the club demonstrated why Allen’s peak performance and impact on the game firmly establish him as one of the greatest hitters in Major League Baseball history.
